Help Wanted (Update)

The Mansour family (see previous post) have been refused an appeal.

The family came to Britain to escape religious persecution in Egypt, a country which the Home Office itself recognises as a dangerous place for non-Muslims, particularly Christians, such as the Mansours.

The family was arrested last night and is currently being held in an immigration centre awaiting a flight to Egypt tomorrow evening. They hadn't been offered legal representation.

The staff at Our Lady's RC Primary in Whalley Range, which was attended by the family's young children Karin and Nardin before their arrest, are still doing what they can, as can you. The decision may well have been made for now, but you can still make a noise.

If you haven't done so already, please just take one minute to copy and paste the text below and email it to the Mansours' MP Tony Lloyd at contact@tonylloydmp.co.uk

The more support this family gets, the better, deadlines or no.

Also, if you're on Facebook, join the group.

Dear Mr Lloyd,

I am writing with regards to the possible deportation of the Mansour family from Moss Side. The children Karin and Nardin Mansour attend Our Lady's RC Primary school in Whalley Range. I would like to say what a terrible loss it would be to the school community and the community of Moss Side if the family were to leave.

It is extremely worrying to think that the family may be deported back to a country where their safety is at jeopardy. There are fundamentalist religious groups that are a threat to this family due to their religious beliefs.

Please do all you can to prevent this from happening.

Thank you
